Services in Vernonia

Volunteering:

 

General Cleanup & Clean-Up. People interested in volunteering should just show up dressed in gloves, boots, work clothes.  Currently volunteers are needed most for general cleanup and demolition.  Report to the area across the street from Vernonia City Hall (1001 Bridge Street • Vernonia, Oregon 97064) and the coordinators will put you to work.  If you have any questions contact the Vernonia City Hall at 1 (503) 791-9629.

Sorting Donations. The City of Vernonia is in need of help in their donations management center. Donations are coming in faster than they can get them organized at the center. Time: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Place: Lincoln Middle School, 1462 Bridge Street Vernonia, OR. Tasks: Sorting and filling donations; moving boxes, loading and unloading vehicles. Other Donations:

Socks, shoes, raingear and furniture donations can be dropped off at Lincoln Grade School 1462 W. Bridge in Vernonia.

 

Food Donations:

Non-perishable food donations can be dropped off at 998 Bridge Street, across from Vernonia City Hall.

Services Across Columbia County

Donations of Money:

To donate money there has been a Flood Victims Account set up at WAUNA Federal Credit Union in Clatskanie.  inquiry@waunafcu.org, 1 (800) 773-3236, 101 Truhaak St. Clatskanie, OR 97016.

 

Other Donations:

 

Drop sites have been set up for donations of items that will be distributed to areas of need throughout Columbia County:

  • Scappoose: (non-perishable food items only) Scappoose Fire Station, northwest end of town off of highway 30.

  • St. Helens: (non-perishable food, unused cleaning supplies) Columbia Pacific Food Bank, 474 Milton Way, St. Helens. For more information, call 503.397.9708. Business hours are 9 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday.

  • Mist: Mist-Birkenfeld Fire Hall, Highway 47 west of Mist. For more information, call 503.755.2710.

  • Rainier: (food, unused cleaning supplies, other items) United Way of Columbia County at the Riverside Community Church, 305 W. 3rd St., which is in the old elementary school behind the Chevron station in Rainier.  Business hours are 7am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday, call first on Saturdays.

  • St. Helens: (non-perishable food, unused cleaning supplies) Columbia County Sheriff's Office, Port Avenue, St. Helens.
