The Portland
Trail Blazers Hands On Greater Portland Heart of the
Community Awards luncheon celebrates volunteerism and
honors outstanding volunteers and volunteer programs
that are the Heart of our Community.
In its
eighth year, this celebratory luncheon is the premier
volunteer recognition event for the greater Portland
area. Winners are chosen for six awards including the
Individual Volunteer Award, the Heart of the
Community Award, the Volunteer Innovation Award,
the Nathan Sibell Youth Leadership Award, the
Hands On Greater Portland Award and the Corporate
Volunteer Award.
Public
nominations were accepted until October 15, 2008.
Winners will be decided by early December in the
following categories:

Individual Volunteer Award
(adults age 21 and over)
Awarded
to an individual volunteer who is:

Making
significant improvements in our community

Leading
by example

Building
leadership and engaging others in problem solving

Uniting
people together to work for a common cause •
Leveraging community

Volunteer Innovation Award
(nonprofit, school or government entity)
Awarded
to nonprofit (501c3), school or government entity
that:

Employs
innovative methods to address significant problems
or challenges in our community

Models
excellence in volunteer management

Builds
volunteer leadership and engages volunteers in
problem solving

Unites
people to work together for a common cause

Leverages
community resources to increase impact

Nathan Sibell Youth Leadership Award
(volunteers under age 21)
Awarded
to a youth volunteer who is:
