As the
Youth and Family Program Coordinator, I am
looking forward to developing some
new and exciting volunteer opportunities for
teens in
the Portland area! I have been volunteering
through Hands On since
spring of last year, and I find it a great
way to meet people, get involved
and make a difference.
While at Hands On, I hope to learn as much
as
possible about Portland's non-profit and
volunteering communities.
In my free
time I enjoy walking around the city,
hiking, reading (I recommend
The Hearing Trumpet by L. Carrington,
The Alchemist by P. Coelho, and
A Girl Named Zippy by H. Kimmel),
spending time with my friends, family
and pets, and an occasional game of racquet
ball. A social issue I am particularly
interested in is affordable housing and ways
to incorporate sustainable design
and management into urban housing and
communities.
I am
grateful to AmeriCorps and Hands On Greater
Portland for this opportunity
and look forward to working with all of the
great volunteers, projects leaders,
agency partners, and Hands On staff!
