Celebrate AmeriCorps Week with Alums, Current Members and AmeriCorps Curious

In honor of this year's AmeriCorps Week, AmeriCorps Alums is teaming up with Hands On Greater Portland who will be hosting a volunteer project for current AmeriCorps members, AmeriCorps Alums, and anyone who's interested in learning more about the AmeriCorps program from the folks serving in the field!

Come join in on an afternoon of socializing, delicious pot-luck food, and recipe-book making! Hands On Greater Portland volunteers host a number of meals at shelters across the greater Portland area and, with your help, we can prepare a book of scrumptious recipes to be created for these meals!

Get out of town! Soapstone Work Party

Help work on our native plant restoration project, clear trails, make kindling for next winter's fires, clip overhanging plants along the trails or sit on the deck by the stream! The work requires no skill and everyone works at her or his own pace, choosing what feels comfortable. Soapstone is a writing retreat for women about 9 miles inland from the north coast that stands on twenty-two acres of densely forested land along the banks of Soapstone Creek. If anyone has special skills we'll definitely use them (electrical, carpentry, etc.). Let us know in your email. We'll start at 11 and have a potluck dinner at around 5. Carpooling will be facilitated.

Lead AmeriCorps Alums Service Projects

Join us for this quick 1 hour training become and AmeriCorps Alums Project Leader. Service Project Leaders organize, lead and manage our monthly volunteer projects. We will provide you with the training and support needed for you to set up projects that fit your interest and availability. This is a flexible commitment-- you can lead as many or as few projects as you would like.
