Hands On works with
hundreds of community-based
programs to provide volunteers
with a variety of meaningful
opportunities for service and
leadership.
Here are a
just a few comments from Hands
On
Community Partners:
"We posted several SMART
projects on the Hands On
website; it allowed us to
connect with people who were
already interested in our
mission - but might not have
known about our program. Hands
On
provided a forum for us to
connect with these people and
get them involved."
-Lesley Eisele, SMART (Start
Making A Reader Today)
"I was having trouble finding
members in the Portland
Community to participate in our
Program Committees. With the
help of the new referral system
at Hands On we were
able to recruit volunteers to
sit on these committees. I look
forward to using this system to
recruit volunteers for our
upcoming construction project. I
know it will be very helpful."
-Jennifer Twyman, Portland
Habitat Humanity
"I used the NetWorks Program
of Hands On's new
volunteer recruitment system to
post opportunities for ongoing
volunteers at two after-school
programs. I began getting
responses almost immediately and
ended up with two great,
dependable volunteers to help
out with the programs."
-Sean Wade, Human Solutions
"As a relatively new user of
your postings, I just wanted to
let you know we had nearly
instant results! I've already
been contacted by two volunteers
. . I had no idea how effective
a tool Hands On could
be."
-Darr Durham, 1000 Friends of
Oregon
"Saturday was just fantastic.
A great deal was accomplished .
. . We couldn't have asked for a
more positive, supportive group
of people to help us. THANKS to
you for your organization and
strong support of our project."
-Carole Biskar, Principal,
Tualatin Elementary School
"We've gotten a great
response to our listing for
volunteers . . . We now have all
the volunteers we can accept for
this position."
-Heather Jones, Development
Coordinator, Friendly House
The numbers
speak for themselves:
- Together we connected over
1864 community members with
opportunities to volunteer
through our referral
opportunities.
- Through Hands On's
CommunityWorks and TeamWorks
programs, more than 5,993
volunteers were connected with projects.
- Our BusinessCares program
connected more than 1000
corporate employee volunteers
with opportunities to
volunteer.
- Finally, our Comcast Cares
Day brought more than 2,000
volunteers to schools in the
metro area.
More than 12,000 volunteers were
connected to Hands On Community Partners
in 2006. What an amazing
accomplishment - and we couldn't
have done it without fantastic
Community Partners!
