Become a Program Night Volunteer to Empower Homeless Youth! (age 8+) Referral

- by raising awareness on the lack of funding going towards disadvantaged children, providing the resources necessary for children experiencing homelessness to reach their full potential, freeing up time for parents to get training on job skills and ultimately breaking the generational cycle of poverty.
Program night volunteers will carry out a program, chosen by the Kids First Project volunteer leader of the night (energetic or quiet activity - Arts and crafts, read aloud, writing workshop, science experiment, walking field trip) with one or two other volunteers for the age group they signed up for. On any given night, the age groups range from 2-4, 5-10, and 11-18 years. Program nights at Portland Homeless Family Solutions are always held from 6-7 pm.
Volunteers of all ages also have the option of becoming a one-on-one tutor for a child. High school and college students have the option of becoming a mentor for a child. Please visit our website to learn more about our services and opportunities: kidsfirstproject.org
Our entire program is run by volunteers, from the creation of our program books to the design of our logo. Without our dedicated volunteers, Kids First Project would not be able to impact the many children we serve. You will be giving us the biggest gift of all by volunteering your time to our organization. Whether you’re interested in interacting with children through programs or you’re interested in the background work, your impact makes all the difference.

Volunteers must be 8 years of age or older to participate in this opportunity; any volunteer under age 14 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.
