Our TeamWorks program is looking for new leaders
interested in leading a TeamWorks series at some point during our 2015 season (March- November 2015). Each TeamWorks team is designed to include four to eight volunteer projects and/or educational sessions that take place during a three to six week timeframe. The info session is designed to give you a peek into the world of TeamWorks leadership and development, spark discussion around potential TeamWorks topics for the 2014 season, and make connections between leaders interested in similar topics (co-leadership of teams is very common!). No commitment required... simply come if you're interested in learning more and see if TeamWorks might be up your alley!

"I have been on three TeamWorks teams so far. I now feel very in-touch with the issues that are facing our community.  I have also developed some friendships with the people I've met.

For me, TeamWorks is about volunteering on issues that are important to the team, and being able to discuss the impact our work has made on us and on the community."

~ TeamWorks Volunteer and Team Leader

What is TeamWorks?
TeamWorks provides volunteers with an opportunity to dive deeper into a topic of interest through a team-based service-learning experience. TeamWorks teams consist of approximately 10-12 individuals, led by a Hands On trained TeamWorks Leader, who come together on 4-8 different projects structured around a theme or social issue – whether it be hunger, sustainability, cultural awareness, or simply honing in on nonprofits in your own neighborhood (e.g. NE Portland). TeamWorks experiences may vary in length, but most take place over 3-8 weeks, with an average of one or two projects each week. TeamWorks provides a great opportunity to get to know others with similar interests and gain a deeper understanding of community issues through service-learning. (Learn more here: http://www.handsonportland.org/Join_A_TeamWorks_Team)

The role of the TeamWorks Leader is to co-facilitate Teamworks projects along with the hosting nonprofits, manage team correspondence, provide a positive experience for all team members, and foster enthusiasm for service and continued dialogue about the TeamWorks topic. It's a whole lot of fun and a great opportunity to build your leadership experience!
