Opportunity Details

Warming Hearts with Valentines (age 6+) *MLK 2016*

Hands On Managed projects offer you an opportunity to join a group of volunteers on a done-in-a-day project led by a Hands On Volunteer Leader

Join us in honoring the legacy of Dr. King through meaningful service to our community: "Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve."
-- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

This MLK holiday...make a commitment to take a day "on" and a day of service rather than take a day "off".

Join us as a creative dissenter to make Valentine Cards for disabled and older veterans. The Valentine Cards we craft will be distributed to local VA agencies that serve Clackamas County veterans. We will be using numerous paper crafting tools: rubber stamps, ink, paper trimmers, scissors, adhesives, etc. No prior experience is required to participate. Please bring your own special craft supplies for you to use (or share) if you wish.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup will be available for lunch. The suggested meal donation is $3.00 for those 12 & under or 60+ and $5.00 for those ages 13-59.

If you are unable to attend or if space is full, you can still participate by making your own Valentine Cards from the comfort and convenience of your own home and mail to:

VOLUNTEER CONNECTION/MLK SERVICE PROJECT
PO BOX 2950
OREGON CITY, OR 97045

Volunteer Connection volunteers provide a critical impact on the quality and delivery of social services and support in our community. It would be impossible to do this work without the compassion and commitment of our volunteers. We are committed to strengthening the community by increasing and fostering opportunities for seniors, people with disabilities, individuals and families so they can be more socially connected and self-reliant.

Volunteers will gain a sense of understanding and compassion for our veterans that have served our country. Our veterans have given a tremendous service to us and it is our turn to share our appreciation on this Valentine's Day.
