Opportunity Details

Lettuce Turnip and Plant! (all ages) *STW 2016*

The Supa Fresh Youth Farm at Durham School provides underserved youth with the opportunity to develop important skills for real world success, while also teaching participating youth about fresh, healthy food!

We will be amending the soil in our garden beds by adding things like compost, and then planting vegetables and flowers all over the farm! There will be some weeding and clean up to do as well. Planting and other kid-friendly activities will also be available.

Our Mission: To cultivate self-sufficient, confident and joyful youth who enthusiastically pursue their career and life goals through internships, training and entrepreneurship.

Wear clothing that is comfortable to move around in and that you don't mind getting dirty. Closed-toe shoes are required. Pants would be better for some to protect legs from weeds and thorns but shorts will also work. Bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and a snack to keep your energy up, especially if you're bringing kids. We will supply all of the tools and gloves, and there is drinking water to refill water bottles onsite.

This is a family-friendly project and volunteers of all ages are welcome! Join us for a fun and rewarding experience.

Note: Volunteers age 1-15 may volunteer along with a responsible adult.
Volunteers age 16+ are welcome to volunteer on their own.
