Opportunity Details

Saturday Crew at Hoyt Arboretum (age 8+) *Hands On*

Volunteer crews are incredibly important to maintaining the Hoyt Arboretum’s tree and plant collection and trail system. Volunteers have a unique opportunity to learn and care for rare and unusual trees and plants from around the world. Saturday Crew Volunteers help with planting, watering, pruning, weeding, mulching, invasive species removal and brush removal working in a team environment with Hoyt Arboretum's horticulturist.

Saturday Crew is an outdoor volunteer opportunity and will happen rain or shine. Please come dressed appropriately for the weather--long pants, sturdy shoes and a water bottle are always recommended. Gloves and tools will be provided.

Volunteers will learn about trees, plants and horticulture. No previous experience is required! Onsite training is provided by staff at the start of each crew.

Hoyt Arboretum is Portland's museum of living trees located on 189-ridge top acres in Washington Park. The arboretum is home to more than 6,000 trees and plants, including more than 2,000 species (63 of which are threatened or endangered in the wild). To the local community, Hoyt Arboretum represents a unique setting for education, fitness and reflection. To the world, Hoyt Arboretum is a critical partner in global conservation and scientific research. For more information about Hoyt Arboretum, please visit hoytarboretum.org.
