Hay Packing for Domestic Rabbits (age 12+) Referral
Would you like to get outdoors, get some exercise and help the Rabbits? Then hay packing is for you!
Come join us to help pack hay from bales into plastic bags (10 lbs). Two-three people at each station team up to make the process into a production type line. This is dusty, more physical work with light lifting. The project takes place partially inside (garage area) at a NE Portland Residence. You will be rewarded with working with great people, vegetarian snacks, and a take home bag of hay for your rabbit (if you have one)!
Be sure to wear long pants, appropriate shoes, and dress in layers (rain or shine). This is a low pressure activity and you are welcome to work at your own pace. This activity typically last 4 hours, but you may leave early if needed.
We sell our gourmet hay blend as a fund-raiser to the public for The Rabbit Advocates Medical Assistance Fund. All profits from the sale of Bunny's Best Bites will make a big difference in the lives of rescued rabbits in need of medical assistance in the greater Portland/Vancouver area.
Who We Are: Rabbit Advocates is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose volunteers specialize in educating the public about the care of domestic rabbits. We aim to place surrendered or abandoned rabbits in loving homes where they will be welcomed as family members. Formerly a part of the Oregon Humane Society, in 2002 we created a group solely devoted to promoting the welfare of domestic rabbits. The Rabbit Advocates operate an education and adoption website as well as a help line. We hold rabbit adoption outreach events and other activities at locations around the Portland Metro Area and hold monthly meetings at Oregon Humane Society, located at 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland, Oregon.

Volunteers should have no hay allergies.

Volunteers must be 12 years of age or older to attend this project. Parent consent is required for teens under 18.
