Build Homes, Change Lives (age 14+) Referral
Help give a family something to be thankful for: a new house!
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that builds simple, decent, affordable homes for families in need in our local community. For this volunteer opportunity you will be working alongside Habitat families and other community members to help build a home. It is difficult to say what each day will hold for a volunteer, but we can say you will be kept busy! Your activities could range from framing and raising a wall to painting a new Habitat family’s living room, to landscaping the yard and much more. Volunteers help in all aspects of home construction, so each day is a new adventure.
Appropriate Dress: wear closed toe shoes – heavy gym shoes or work boots are preferred. Dress for the weather: we work rain or shine. Wear pants and other comfortable clothing, layering is recommended. Be prepared to work with mud and paint, please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Habitat will provide all of the necessary tools. If you have a favorite hammer or tool belt, you are welcome to bring it, but please be sure it is well marked.
About Habitat for Humanity: Habitat is a non-profit organization that builds simple, decent, affordable homes for families in need in our local community. In turn these homes are sold to families from our local community who are living in substandard housing conditions with a 0% interest mortgage. Our mission is accomplished mainly through the help of volunteers from the local community. We can’t build without you!
