Painting Party at YWCA Clark County! (age 18+) *MLK 2014*

Hands On Managed projects offer you an opportunity to join a group of volunteers on a done-in-a-day project led by a Hands On Volunteer Leader

Join us in honoring the legacy of Dr. King through meaningful service to our community: "Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve."
-- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

YWCA Clark County’s mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. YWCA Clark County serves more than 11,000 people each year who are victims of domestic violence, homelessness, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect, and oppression, as well as youth in foster care and women who are incarcerated. Our programs provide the tools and support to build self-esteem, foster positive life choices, and change lives. YWCA celebrates diversity, respects differences, and recognizes the dignity of each individual. We cooperate as a team to achieve a shared vision, believe and live our mission, and serve as leaders in providing quality and innovative service in a caring, compassionate environment.

Project Description
Painting offices using cutting brushes (for trim) and paint rollers for walls. For those that are taping the upper walls and doing the “cutting in” work near the ceilings, you need to be able to tolerate heights while working on a ladder. While the paint is a low VOC (volatile organic compound) it still has an odor, so must be able to stand the “fresh paint” smell. Prior painting experience preferred. If you have any available, please bring 2 - 8 ft ladders to reach the top of the ceilings. 3 – 4ft extension poles, drop cloths, 3 cutting brushes, 2 small / med fans.

Project Requirements:

  • You must be 18+ years of age to attend this project.

  • All volunteers are required to sign an MLK Volunteer Waiver (print it now, fill it out, and bring it with you to save time during project check in).
