Salvage Building Materials (age 14+) *CCD 2014*
Join over 1,900 volunteers for Comcast Cares Day 2014!
Reduce, recycle, reuse! Help reduce the flow of useable building materials into the waste stream by volunteering at the Rebuilding Center's non-profit resource center for used building materials. We'll be doing a hands-on project, so come ready to work and have fun!
We will be working with the various building materials that are donated to The ReBuilding Center on a daily basis. Volunteers will be de-nailing lumber that has been salvaged by our DeConstruction Services. Local structures are dismantled by hand, allowing our crews to salvage up to 85% of its componentry. De-nailing is a great exercise in upholding our communities’ social and environmental vitality!
Volunteers need to be dressed for the weather, as we will be outdoors. Closed toed shoes are a must; and gloves and safety glasses are encouraged. We have extra gloves and eye protection for those that need it too. Youth welcome with parent or guardian. Enter thru the big brown community trees (you'll know them when you see them).
Project Requirements:

Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older to attend this project; volunteers under age 16 must attend with an adult chaperone.
- All volunteers under 18 are required to bring a Hands On Youth Waiver signed by their parent or legal guardian. (Print it now, fill it out, and bring it with you to save time during project check in).

If you plan to bring your children or other guests to the event, you MUST reserve slots for them. The best way to do this is to create a Volunteer Team. You can then sign up your team for this project. PLEASE NOTE: If you do reserve slots for multiple team members, it is imperative that each person signed up shows up. Spaces are limited and groups who don't show up can drastically reduce the amount of work each shift can accomplish.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You are responsible for ensuring that everyone signed up through your team attends - only sign up team members who have confirmed their availability. Teams that repeatedly sign up, but do not show up or show up with fewer volunteers than they signed up, may be removed.
