Grow Lunch Garden Work Party at Sauvie Island Center (age 16+) Referral

Would you love to work to prepare an educational garden? Are you looking for a great opportunity to support an organization whose mission is to – ‘educate youth about food, farming and the land’?

Come on out and help Sauvie Island Center prepare and maintain their Grow Lunch Garden for the Spring field trip season!

The Grow Lunch Garden is part of the Seed to Harvest module, where children plant, tend, harvest and eat fresh vegetables. There’s no better way to learn about healthy food, healthy bodies and a healthy planet.

To prepare and maintain the Grow Lunch Garden, we will be hand-tilling, weeding, planting, adding compost while enjoying our beautiful surroundings and each other!

Remember to wear closed-toed shoes and dress in layers. We will provide tools and work gloves – but please feel free to bring your own gloves if you would prefer!

We will meet at the large, red barn behind the 2-story, white Howell House. Please park in the designated 'Public Parking' area in front of the Howell House and walk back to the barn. Here is a cut and paste link to our website for directions: http://www.sauvieislandcenter.org/about/directions/

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Volunteers make this work possible!!!

The Sauvie Island Center increases food, farm and environmental literacy in the community by providing hands-on educational field trips for elementary school children. The field trips take place on the Sauvie Island Organics farm and on the grounds of the Howell Territorial Park, managed by Metro.
