Kids! Dig In! at the OFB Learning Garden in NE Portland (age 0+) *Hands On*

some_text

This is a great way to spend time volunteering with your kids!

Oregon Food Bank's Learning Garden programs provide beautiful, bountiful growing spaces where people can learn to grow some of their own food. Volunteers of all ages and garden experience levels are needed to help maintain the gardens. Tasks often include digging, planting, weeding, thinning, harvesting, composting. No prior experience is necessary; training will be provided. The garden is open rain or shine, so please be sure to dress for the weather and wear closed-toed shoes!

NOTE: If you are a court-ordered volunteer, you will need to contact Oregon Food Bank directly to determine whether you are eligible to volunteer. Please contact Laura Jundt at volunteer@oregonfoodbank.org or 971-230-1672.

Project Requirements:

  • Any volunteer under age 16 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.

  • All volunteers under 18 are required to bring TWO waivers signed by their parent or legal guardian -- one for Hands On and one for Oregon Food Bank. Please download, complete, and bring these waivers with you on the day of the project:

  • If you plan to bring your children or other guests to the event, you MUST reserve slots for them. The best way to do this is to create a Volunteer Team. You can then sign up your team for this project. PLEASE NOTE: If you do reserve slots for multiple team members, it is imperative that each person signed up shows up and volunteers on the project. Spaces are limited and groups who don't show up can drastically reduce the amount of work each shift can accomplish.

Click "Sign Up" below to reserve your spot! Need help signing up? Call 503-200-3355.
