Opportunity Details

Native Plant Center Volunteer Ventures (age 11+) Referral

The Native Plant Center is part of Metro's restoration work aimed at reestablishing rare but vital habitat types that once thrived throughout the Willamette Valley. Each season brings new volunteer opportunities at the Native Plant Center.

Volunteers assist in all aspects of propagating native herbaceous species-harvesting and cleaning seeds, planting native seeds, transplanting and potting seedlings, and setting out young plants into beds.

Come help with nursery operations: watering, weeding, seed bed preparation, general maintenance, data collection and filing. Learn about native plant conservation and local ecosystems while developing skills to volunteer in Metro's natural areas.

No experience necessary. Gloves and tools provided. Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring a water bottle!

Note: Any one wanting to volunteer to complete designated community service hours should call us to let us know first: (503) 319-8292
