Wrench On Bikes with the BTA (age 8+) Referral

The Bicycle Transportation Alliance creates healthy, sustainable communities by making bicycling safe, convenient and accessible.

Our education fleet is vital to our Safe Routes to School Program and it is essential that the bikes are maintained so that they are safe for our students to ride. Each year we teach thousands of Portland 4th and 5th graders to bike safely on the street with these bikes. They need routine maintenance every month to keep the parts working smoothly.

Do you have some bike mechanic skills you'd like to share? Want to learn as you go? Come join us for some greasy fun on the third Saturday of every month from 10 am to 2 pm to help get our Safe Routes to School bikes in tip-top shape!

We also have non-mechanic jobs including sorting helmets and pumping up tires. Volunteers have the opportunity to learn about maintaining bicycles and how to check brakes, tire pressure, etc.
