Walk, Roll 'n' Run for United Cerebral Palsy (age 15+) Referral

Raise awareness for children affected by cerebral palsy!

Come provide volunteer support for a day of fun and fundraising for United Cerebral Palsy's Family Support Department. The event features a 2.5 mile walk (looping from the East Bank Esplanade, over the Steel Bridge, down Waterfront Park, and back over the Hawthorne bridge) and an 8k run (following the Springwater Corridor, out and back), along with a 5k run alternative.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of positions:

  1. Walk and roll route monitors – hand out water bottles and direct people to stay on the correct path – and encourage people to continue (along the Eastbank Esplanade)

  2. Run monitors – same as walk and roll monitors – just a different route (along the Springwater Corridor)

  3. General set-up - making everything ready so children and adults with disabilities, and their families and friends, have a great experience

  4. Monitor and direct parking

  5. Breaking it all down at the end

Most volunteer positions last 2-3 hours. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. No special skills required, except a desire to be of service to a community that needs a lot of support!

Incentives: Free lunch by Papa Murphy’s and event tee shirt. Opportunity to hang out with Timber Joey, the Rose City Rollers, “Cruze” from 105.1 The Buzz and hear the award-winning Sellwood Middle School Marimba Band.

United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Oregon and SW Washington offers individualized supports, information, and advocacy for people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities and their families throughout our region. UCP’s mission is to advance the independence, productivity and full citizenship of people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.
