Volunteer to Build a New Hiking Trail! (age 16+) Referral
Trailkeepers of Oregon (TKO) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to protect and enhance the Oregon hiking experience through advocacy, stewardship, outreach and education. Volunteers participating in this opportunity will be helping to support Oregon's hiking community through trail stewardship.
We need help building a new trail! Join TKO in building a new trail to connect the new Douglas Trail trailhead to the existing Douglas Trail. This work party is scheduled for July 25 through July 27. Volunteer for the day or join us for the weekend! This work party is hosted in cooperation with the Back Country Horsemen of Oregon.
The Douglas Trail is a popular access point to Wildcat Mountain and the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness. Last year the Douglas Trail trailhead was moved approximately 0.5 miles from its old location due to problems at an old gravel pit where the old trailhead was located. Now we need to build a trail to connect the new trailhead to the old trail.
A lot of trail work involves maintaining existing trails; here is a rare opportunity to be involved in building a new trail! No prior trail work experience is needed. TKO provides the tools, safety equipment, training and encouragement. Dinner will also be provided on Friday and Saturday nights.

Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to participate in this opportunity; any volunteer under age 18 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.
