Benefit Concert Support Team for L'Arche Portland (age 16+) Referral

Come support an incredible organization...and have a LOT of fun! L'Arche Portland, a community of people with and without intellectual disabilities, needs YOU to help us put on our amazing benefit concert!  On Saturday, October 18, 2014, 500 people will gather together to listen to the magnificent melodies of Julianne Johnson and Michael Allen Harrison. Before the concert, we'll be hosting a soirée for 200 people with wine and hors d'hoeuvres. Activities for which we are searching for volunteer help include:

  • Set up (decorations, tables, linens)

  • Selling and taking tickets as people come in

  • Promoting and selling raffle tickets throughout the evening

  • Food and wine service

  • Ushering

  • Break down

  • Tech support (sound, slide show and video at the soirée and concert)

  • Volunteer management (for someone who can oversee the volunteers throughout the evening)

Dinner will be included. There will be two shifts of volunteers (1:00-7:00 and 4:00 to 10:00). Please indicate which time slot would work best for you.

Since 1987, L'Arche Portland has been creating home and building community as people with and without developmental disabilities. We have two homes in SE Portland, in each of which live four adults with disabilities and 3-4 caregivers who share life with them.

Beyond offering stable, long-term relationships for the adults with disabilities in our homes, L'Arche imparts to the broader community its vision of the unique value of every person and our need for one another. In our 25 years, over 90 caregivers who have shared life with adults with disabilities have taken L'Arche values into their own homes, work places and communities. We are part of an international federation with 137 communities in 40 countries around the world. L'Arche International is a global leader in engaging, honoring, and celebrating people with developmental disabilities.
