As the volunteers that lead Hands On Greater Portland’s Hands On Managed Projects, we are this organizations strongest link to the community.
We lead because we have found the benefit to ourselves that comes in service to the community. We lead because we want to share that with anyone seeking to transform their lives by helping others. We are leading the volunteerism movement here in the Greater Portland Area.
These meetings are a chance for us to get together, discuss issues that matter to us, share input and collaboration around the VL Program and the work that we do within the community.
Hands On is always looking for Volunteer Leaders for our projects, even when there are leaders committed to every recurring project, we need people to lead during our major service events, as fill ins when regular VLs aren't going to be at a particular occurence and out on our TeamWorks teams. If you haven't been to our Volunteer Leader training but are still interested in finding out more about what we do as VLs you are welcome to join us!
Don't worry, at the last meeting the group of us decided that we would like to meet every month... so there will be more chances to get together with us.
Also, In our first meeting we created a Hands On VL Google Group that we can use to discuss issues and stay informed whether we attend the meetings or not. It is a closed group so if you do not have access and would like in, let me know!

Volunteer Leaders, or VLs, play an integral role in helping us manage our signature volunteer projects - from collaboration with our nonprofit partners, to volunteer sign-up support, to project management and follow-up. As our strongest link to the community, VLs also ensure every volunteer has a great experience and that nonprofit needs are being met.
