Refugee and Immigrant Ministries Celebration! (age 18+) Referral

On September 19th Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon will be celebrating decades of hard work and services provided by its ministries: Russian Oregon Social Services, Sponsors Organized to Assist Refugees, and SOAR Immigration Legal Services. In collaboration with our community partners, our programs successfully integrate immigrants and refugees from around the world into Oregon's communities.

This event will be a celebration of the EMO programs that have worked for decades to serve and advocate for justice, peace and integrity of creation through serving the refugee and immigrant communities of Oregon. We have invited many members of the communities we serve along with our partners to celebrate all that we have achieved. As a volunteer you will be helping us show our appreciation to our partners and our commitment to continue our work long into the future.

Volunteers will have the chance to meet members of the refugee and immigrant communities and hear their stories, and experience their culture through a number of live performances. In addition, volunteers will be introduced to all the organizations and government agencies involved in serving these populations. This will be a wonderful evening for anyone interested in knowing more about the refugee and immigrant communities in Oregon!

We are looking for volunteers to help in a number of capacities:

Before event:
- Help set up tables and chairs
- Help hang photos
- Help set up audio visual equipment
- Help getting the hall generally ready for the event

During event:
- Direct parking traffic
- Help keep hall clean
- Help facilitate a number of live cultural performances
- Be ready to help with miscellaneous tasks

After event:

- Help clean up the hall
- Take down tables and chairs

Please come wearing clean semi-formal clothes. You can wear either all black or a mixture of black and white. Please wear comfortable shoes because you will be on your feet for most of the evening.

The EMO mission is:
Committed to mutual respect and understanding, Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon brings together diverse communities of faith to learn, serve and advocate for justice, peace and the integrity of creation.
