Kids! Pencils, Paper, & Crayons at Schoolhouse Supplies (age 4+) *Hands On*

some_text

This is a fun and productive way to spend your morning volunteering as a family and supporting local classrooms!

Did you know that on average, public school teachers spend $1,750 from their own pockets to purchase supplies for their classrooms or for students whose parents cannot afford school supplies?

Schoolhouse Supplies collects new and used supplies (from pencils, paper and crayons to staplers, puzzles and art supplies) to stock a unique store for Portland Public School teachers – where everything is free! The Free Store for Teachers program touches the lives of thousands of children in need and helps teachers create an exceptional learning environment for all students.

Youth and family volunteers will help prep donated supplies for the Free Store for Teachers by sorting and bundling pens, markers, paperclips & more! Younger kids can even practice their counting skills while here. Kids can also test gently used donated items and make thank you cards for donors. We start each youth and family volunteer event out with a tour and help them connect the dots between their time at the Free Store and filling the need in classrooms.

Schoolhouse Supplies is located in the basement of Madison Highschool, on NE 82nd Ave. just north of I-84.
