Help at a Bike Commuter Station this September! (age 8+) Referral

We are lucky to have lovely weather through September, when a lot of people will be getting out their bikes and riding to and from work as part of our Bike Commute Challenge! We here at the Bicycle Transportation Alliance like to give all those great bicycle riders a little extra love and at our Commuter Stations.

Commuter Stations are pop-up stations along major bike routes, where we flag down commuters on their evening ride home. We hand out snacks, register bikes, and tell people about the exciting work BTA is doing. Our commuter stations are a great way to get involved and there is a job for everyone. We need volunteers to hold signs, wave at riders and promote the station, count riders going by and stopping at the station, handing out snacks and registering bikes.

So come scream, shout and show a little love for Portland bike commuters this September!

Wear comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather. Be sure to bring a water bottle, and sunglasses or a rain coat. You will be outside for the duration of the event, some volunteers will be stationed under a pop up tent, others will be stationed on sidewalks.

The Bicycle Transportation Alliance creates healthy, sustainable communities by making bicycling safe, convenient and accessible. We are a non-profit membership organization working to promote bicycling and improve bicycling conditions in Oregon. Since 1990, the BTA has worked in partnership with citizens, businesses, community groups, government agencies, and elected officials to create communities where people can meet their daily transportation needs on a bike.

Commuter stations show our appreciation for bike commuters and inform people about the work BTA is doing on behalf of Oregon bicyclists. As a volunteer you will help cheer on more people to commute by bike and support the BTA's advocacy work, positively impacting communities across the region.
