Gay & Grey Expo (age 12+) Referral
The Gay & Grey Expo, presented by SAGE Metro Portland, is an annual resource fair and conference for LGBT older adults living in the Pacific NW. Volunteers are needed to help with entertainment, raffles, setting up, photographing, greeting, floating, and breaking down. There are lots of fun opportunities for this important and vibrant event!
Friendly House creates a thriving community by connecting people of all ages and backgrounds through quality educational, recreational and other life-sustaining services.
Volunteers will be helping in our effort to advocate for and provide support and community for an often forgotten demographic. LGBT Seniors can face alienation and bigotry as they enter retirement facilities, sometimes being forced to go back into the closet. SAGE Metro Portland, a program within Friendly House, organizes the Annual Gay and Grey Expo as a definitive venue for social inclusion for all.
Volunteers will learn about community building, teamwork, non-profit event coordination, and resources for lgbt and senior rights.

Opportunity Requirements:

Volunteers must be 12 years of age or older to participate in this opportunity; any volunteer under age 15 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.
