Trail lovers, bikers, runners and pedestrians: We need you! (ages 16+, 1+ if attending with an adult)

Are you interested in exploring the regional trail system, getting hands-on experience in survey methods, and learning how data affects policy? Each September, volunteers from throughout the region gather along trails to count and survey people biking and walking on the Intertwine – the greater Portland region’s system of trails, parks and natural areas. It is fun and easy, and the data will help provide more choices for people to get around on foot, bike, wheelchairs and other non-motorized options. The time commitment can be as low as just two hours. The count is part of the National Bicycle and Pedestrian Documentation Project’s ongoing effort to gather accurate trail-use data to help decide where and when to build new trails and respond to the needs of trail users. The Intertwine trail counts and surveys project relies on local partners and volunteers. Each year, hundreds of volunteers along with partners from 20 different cities and agencies hold counts at around 100 sites. With so many sites, we really need your help to count them all!

Emergency Food Box Volunteers Needed

SnowCap is getting set to host our annual Volunteer Training and Recognition event and we’ll be closing down our normal pantry operations that day (that usually run from 10am to 2pm) to have all the space we need for our event.

However, since we’d be closing our pantry, we want to make sure to offer pre-packed food boxes to anyone that comes to SnowCap that day.  We’re looking for 4-6 volunteers that would be willing to hand out food boxes to anyone that drops by. We’d have all the food boxes ready to go, and volunteers would simply need to gather signatures and hand out the boxes, explaining to folks that our pantry is closed for our Training Event.

Time/Location:
Two shifts:
10am - 12pm & 12pm - 2pm

17805 SE Stark St.
Portland, OR 97233
