The mission of Portland YouthBuilders is to support young people who are committed to changing their lives to become self-sufficient, contributing members of the workforce and their community. Serving more than 200 young people a year, we offer a program of high school completion, vocational training, counseling, and support that helps our students find a new path and a clear vision of success filled with pride, leadership, and commitment to community. Founded in 1993, Portland YouthBuilders (PYB) is a non-profit organization offering education, vocational, leadership development and support programs for low income, at-risk young people ages 17 - 24. PYB students earn high school or general equivalency diplomas while acquiring the skills, values, and experience necessary to lead self-sufficient and productive lives. PYB is accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools and has been selected as one of six "leader sites" as part of the Gates Foundation-funded "National Schools Initiative", a high school reform initiative in partnership with YouthBuild USA.
