Be the change. Volunteer.
Second Saturday School Beautification

Agency: Jason Lee K-8

Description:

Come one, come all to Jason Lee’s monthly Second Saturday School Beautification volunteer event.

Every month students, parents, administrators and teachers gather at school the “Second Saturday” morning, from 9am to 12pm, to make aesthetic improvements to the building and grounds. So far this year, we’ve painted the entire school building’s interior walls, we’ve excavated 19 tree wells--an effort that prepared the planting 19 Ginkgo trees in March--and we’ve created a number of sustainable art projects. Not to mention, we’ve had a ton of fun making these positive changes together as a community.

There’s always work to be done, and an almost infinite potential of constructive developments to be actualized here at Jason Lee. This room for growth is a tremendous opportunity we’d like to take advantage of every month. Our goal is to move as far away as possible from the outdated, institutionalized form of the public school building. We envision engaging the vast pool of creative and innovative community members in order to realize this goal.

Jason Lee is a community school, and is more than open to fresh ideas, perspectives, feedback and input. If you are looking for a platform to exert your creative capacities, why not use a school building in need of an artistic face-lift as your pallet.
