| Referral: Support the Ethiopia Project Run Club: Packet Pick-up |
Agency: The Ethiopia Project
Description:
Would you like to make a difference for aspiring athletes in the African nation of Ethiopia? If yes, here is a great opportunity for you!
The Ethiopia project is a non-profit organization based in Portland with a mission to collect new and gently used running shoes in the area and fitting them on aspiring runners and children in Ethiopia. For many runners in an impoverished country where running barefoot is common, having a pair of running shoes is a luxury. To date, the Ethiopia project has collected roughly two thousand shoes in the Portland/Vancouver area, but needs to raise money for the exorbitant shipping costs for the shoes. As a fundraiser, the Ethiopia Project has created a Run Club in the Portland area.
Help volunteer at packet pick-up for the runners of the upcoming Fueled By Wine Half Marathon. Packet pick-up will be at the Fit Right NW store in NW Portland. Volunteers will hand out registration packets for the runners signed up for the race.
These races are a primary source of income for The Ethiopia Project. Help make a difference while having fun!
Be sure to bring appropriate outdoor attire, as most all the work will be outdoors. An Ethiopia Project representative will be present at the event to direct volunteers to various tasks.
This project is open to volunteers ages 21 and up. A 4 hour commitment is required for this project. If you're interested in this volunteering opportunity, please click the "Have Agency Contact Me" button below.
