Help Hillsboro Kids Discover the Joy of Reading with SMART (age 16+) Referral

Support children’s literacy in your community and inspire a love of books and reading. Provide individual reading attention that allows young children to gain confidence in their reading ability. As a SMART Reader, you'll read one-on-one with children for 1 hour per week from now until May. If you're not able to commit to a weekly session, apply to be a substitute reader.

The SMART program has a high-need for volunteer readers at:
Minter Bridge Elementary: 1750 SE Jacquelin Dr., Hillsboro
WL Henry Elementary: 1060 SE 24th Ave., Hillsboro
WV McKinney Elementary: 535 NW Darnielle St., Hillsboro

SMART (Start Making A Reader Today) is an early literacy nonprofit that envisions an Oregon in which every child can read and is empowered to succeed. We engage community volunteers to help PreK-3rd grade children become confident readers by providing one-on-one literacy support, valuable adult mentorship, and books to take home and keep.

Volunteers will be involved with local elementary education. It's a great opportunity to work with PreK - third grade kids and support children's literacy.
