Empower Latina Youth at our Chicas Summer Camps! (age 14+) Referral

Are you passionate about youth education and inspiring girls to learn and explore art, STEM, and health topics? Then you should volunteer as a Summer Day Camp Assistant at Adelante Mujeres' Chicas Summer Day Camps!

You can help supervise and lead Latina youth as they explore new career opportunities and fields of study. The three week-long camps each have a particular focus:

  • Express Yourself: Art, Culture, Dance (July 10-14)

  • Healthy Lifestyles and Health Care (July 17-21)

  • STEM Camp (July 24-28th).

We are currently seeking volunteers to help with our Healthy Lifestyles and Health Care camp and our STEM camp. Spanish skills are helpful, but not required for this position.

Volunteer Duties Include:
-Assisting with attendance and set-up
-Supervising youth and interacting as a positive role model.
-Taking attendance and helping facilitate activities.
-Setting-up and distributing snacks.
-Cleaning up the site.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to explore Health and STEM activities with a group of bright young Latinas, most of whom are first or second generation immigrants. This will give them a unique opportunity to learn about the challenges facing immigrants and Latinas in our community, especially for middle and high school girls. In addition, the volunteer will have an opportunity to practice Spanish with our students and staff.

Adelante Mujeres educates and empowers Latina women and their families through holistic programs that ensure their full participation and active leadership in the community. Chicas is an innovative youth development program empowering Latina girls to develop their leadership potential, adopt healthy lifestyles, develop cultural identity and achieve academic success with high school graduation and college enrollment.
