Help our GirlStrength Expand and Develop!
GirlStrength is free violence preention program operated through the Family Services Division of the Portland Police Bureau. This unique programs offer empowerment self-defense skills to girls ages 10-17. All classes, workshops and camps are taught by a dedicated team of volunteer instructors who complete 128 hours of training.
We are looking for assistance to expand the program to high school. This is a great opportunity to give back to the community and be part of the Portland Police Bureau. Many of our instructors have volunteered for over 10 years!
Volunteers are needed to assist with the curriculum development, research and data entry and the overall assessment process. The ideal volunteer has proficient writing and research skills, can communicate effectively and professionally, and can work on projects independently with minimum supervison.
What we offer volunteers and interns: The opportunity to be part of the Family Services Division of the Portland Police Bureau, attend on site in-service monthly trainings, take free violence prevention classes or workshops and be part of a team of strong women and men who are dedicated to reducing violence in our communities
Commitment: 6 mths to 1 year, working a minimum of 6 hrs per week.
