Prepare & Serve a Meal for Homeless Youth

1st Thursday of each month
Help HomePlate support young people experiencing housing instability in Hillsboro. Volunteers will work together to plan, prepare and serve a hot meal during HomePlate's weekly drop-in program. Click here to support youth!

Want to explore additional ways to support youth through HomePlate?

Be a Lunch Host/Hostess at Hillsboro Senior Center

The Hillsboro Community Senior Center is seeking a host or hostess to assist with dining room operations at their daily (M-F) lunch service program. Each Host/Hostess is assigned one repeating day per week and duties may include: set up/clean up, selling meal tickets and collecting donations at the food distribution line. Our ideal Host/Hostess is friendly, responsible and works well with both staff and patrons!

Help Hillsboro Kids Discover the Joy of Reading with SMART

Support children’s literacy in your community and inspire a love of books and readingProvide individual reading attention that allows young children to gain confidence in their reading ability. As a SMART Reader, you'll read one-on-one with children for 1 hour per week from now until May. If you're not able to commit to a weekly session, apply to be a substitute reader.

SMART Hillsboro Site Coordinator

SMART (Start Making A Reader Today) is a book and reading program that engages community volunteers to help PreK-third grade children become confident readers by providing one-on-one read aloud time, valuable adult mentorship, and books to take home and keep. Site coordinators will work with elementary school staff to schedule students and volunteers and to provide program oversight during reading sessions. Empower and Advocate for Older Adults

Elders in Action is a nonprofit organization that advocates for older adults, provides meaningful volunteer opportunities and works to build an age-friendly community. It is the only program of its kind using trained volunteers to provide personalized assistance to older adults who are living independently and who want to stay that way. Save Medicine, Save Lives with SIRUM

August Hours: M-F 1-5pm, Sat 9am-1pm
September Hours: M-F 2-7pm, Sat 9am-12pm

SIRUM Charitable Pharmacy (SCP) is looking for student volunteers interested in healthcare like you! SCP is a project of SIRUM, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that connects surplus medicine with people in need. SCP was recently opened in Hillsboro to fill prescriptions for all uninsured and low-income patients in Oregon and is the first pharmacy to operate completely with donated medicine under Oregon's Charitable Prescription Drug Program. We provide training in pharmacy operations, sorting, and data logging. No experience is required. Click here to help neighbors gain access to necessary medications!

Family Promise provides shelter, meals, help, and hope to Hillsboro families experiencing homelessness. Daytime hosts welcome and socialize with families at the day center. Overnight hosts secure the building at night and sleep in a private room at the church shelter.
