Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra is a not-for-profit service organization dedicated to presenting quality performances of standard, worthy but rarely performed, and new orchestral repertoire. The orchestra features regional composers, soloists, and musicians both professional and semi-professional. Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra brings together musicians and audiences in friendly, affordable, and accessible concert experiences.
Friendly and energetic volunteers are needed as front house volunteers (helping patrons with programs, tickets, and concessions) and at intermission. Each volunteer will receive 2 free concert tickets to a future performance. Dress Code is black pants or skirt and a white shirt.
Upcoming 2018-2019 Season Concerts:
September 21 & 23, 2018 — Mighty Russians - Robert Henry, piano: PCSO opens the 37th season with the internationally acclaimed pianist Robert Henry. Distinguished for his rare combination of musical insight, creative inspiration, and dazzling technique, Mr. Henry will perform the mighty Piano Concerto No. 2 of Rachmaninoff. The orchestra is featured in the exuberant Autumn by Glazunov and the exotic Firebird by Stravinsky.
November 16 & 17, 2018 — Literary Inspirations - Allison Eldredge, cello: PCSO welcomes cellist and recording artist, Allison Eldredge. She is a recipient of the coveted Avery Fisher Career Grant, and was named “Young Artist of the Year” by Musical America. Ms. Eldredge performs the Grammy-award winning Tales of Hemingway for Cello and Orchestra recently written by American composer Michael Daugherty. The orchestra then closes the concert with delightful literary-inspired musical creations by Erich Korngold, the first composer of international stature to write Hollywood scores
March 15 & 17, 2019 — The Three Bs - Tomás Cotik, violin: We welcome Portland violinist Tomás Cotik in a performance of the beautiful and elegant Beethoven Violin Concerto. The orchestra is featured in two effervescent and frolicsome works by Samuel Barber and Benjamin Britten, whose music is lyrical, dramatic, and purposeful for the audience.
May 3rd & 5th , 2019 — Orchestral Showpieces - Slavic Spectacular : PCSO closes its 37th season with a program of Slavic symphonic showpieces! The entire orchestra is showcased in some of the most celebrated and exciting orchestral works ever written by Slavic composers, including the exotic Suite from the opera Háry János by Zoltán Kodály. You won’t want to miss the artistry of our virtuoso orchestra!

Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to attend this project.
All volunteers under 18 are required to bring a Youth Volunteer Release Form signed by their parent or legal guardian. Please download, complete, and bring this waiver with you on the day of the project.
