Seeking Drivers to Deliver Food Donations! (age 16+) Referral

Neighborhood House is a leading Portland nonprofit social service provider, delivering innovative, life-changing programs for low-income people of all ages and backgrounds. Our programs include the largest food pantry on the west side, early childhood education that prepares children for success in school and life, affordable housing to support families to move beyond poverty, and senior support for those who wish to continue living independently.

Neighborhood House (NH) is seeking weekly volunteers to donate food boxes to our food-insecure neighbors. This consists of picking up prepared boxes at the NH Food Pantry and delivering (in your own car) to 3 or fewer homes. When the pandemic hit, NH pivoted and began mobile food delivery, which has made food more accessible for the Portland community.

Available Shifts:
Mondays 10am, 11am, 1pm or 2pm
Wednesdays 1pm or 2pm
*Shifts typically take 1-1.5 hours to complete

Details:

-Show up to the Pantry at the time of your assigned shift.
-Pull your car up near the left-side door and tell them you’re there to deliver food boxes.
-They will provide you with 3 or fewer boxes. Please be sure to clean out your car so that there is plenty of room!
-We use the platform Helping Hands, which will automatically send you addresses and maps to help you navigate your delivery.
-Then you deliver the boxes! If you are unable to deliver the food box for any reason, just return it to the Pantry or keep it cold and bring it to the Pantry during open hours if it’s closed at that time.
