Let's Sort It Out with Media Foundation (age 14+) *Hands On*

Hands On Managed projects offer you an opportunity to join a group of volunteers on a done-in-a-day project led by a Hands On Volunteer Leader

"The Media Foundation is like the Oregon Food Bank of media!" - Intel volunteer

Mission: Our MISSION is to reduce dependency that smaller non-profits have on cash contributions to achieve their vision, while magnifying the impact they are having on the community.

Vision: Our VISION is seeing smaller non-profits spending the majority of their time focusing on their mission without the distractions and significant time lost associated with fundraising efforts.

Volunteers assist us by doing similar work to what you would do in a second-hand media store or library. This includes cataloging, cleaning, sorting, prioritizing, and filing the book, CD, DVD, video game, and software donations we receive.

Be mindful there could be a lot of moving around, and it would be best to wear closed toe shoes.

You will gain exposure to various work that the nonprofit scene is doing in our community.

Location details:

  • If you arrive at a house, you've found the right place!

  • Look for a two-story home, with a brick facade, and a small slopped driveway.

  • Street parking is available in this residential neighborhood.

**If you are a large group looking to volunteer with The Media Foundation, email newlivesforold.org to schedule a time to visit if your group sizes exceeds 6 people.

Project Requirements:

  • Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older to attend this project; any volunteer under age 16 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.

  • All volunteers under 18 are required to bring a Youth Volunteer Release Form signed by their parent or legal guardian. Please download, complete, and bring this waiver with you on the day of the project.

  • If you plan to bring children or guests you MUST reserve slots for them. The best way to do this is to create a Volunteer Team, then sign up your team for this project.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You are responsible for ensuring that everyone signed up through your team attends - only sign up team members who have confirmed their availability. Teams that repeatedly sign up, but do not show up or show up with fewer volunteers than they signed up, may be removed. To add or remove team members from a project, click on "My Account" and then "My Teams," above.

Click "Sign Up" below to reserve your spot! Need help signing up? None of these times work for you but you're interested in volunteering? Email The Media Foundation at newlivesforold@gmail.com.
