Holiday Party with MS Society (age 12+) *Hands On*

Hands On Managed projects offer you an opportunity to join a group of volunteers on a done-in-a-day project led by a Hands On Volunteer Leader

Looking for ways to spread some Holiday cheer to the local community? On December 8th, the MS Society of Portland is hosting their annual Christmas Party for Multiple Sclerosis patients, caregivers, and their families. With your help, we can make this event a great success! We are expecting 100-125 guests as we celebrate the Holiday Season. For many of these people, this is the only event they will attend for the holidays. I've been volunteering at this event for more than fifteen years and it's one of the most rewarding events we do.

Volunteers are also invited to enjoy the traditional holiday meal! Please be prepared for a bit of downtime in between tasks.

This is a long but very rewarding day! We will:
· Set up tables, chairs, and decorations
· Welcome guests as they arrive (including in the parking lot)
· Sign-in guests as they enter the building
· Help guests use the elevator
· Offer food and drinks while mingling with guests
· Help serve food to guests at their tables
· Help guests navigate the space in their mobility devices
· Help guests to their vehicles or Lift rides after the event
· Help with cleanup

Children ages 12+ with an adult may also volunteer. Due to limited facility/event space, only registered volunteers can attend; please do not bring additional guests. Volunteers are welcome to sign up for more than one shift.

The MS Society of Portland's mission is to improve the lives of those living with MS through educating the public about MS and related problems while providing a social outlet for people living with MS and their families. It also provides a medical equipment closet, acupuncture, massage, referrals, advocacy and social events.

Project Requirements:

  • Volunteers must be 12 years of age or older to attend this project; any volunteer under age 18 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.

  • All volunteers under 18 are required to bring a Youth Volunteer Release Form signed by their parent or legal guardian. Please download, complete, and bring this waiver with you on the day of the project.

  • If you plan to bring children or guests you MUST reserve slots for them. The best way to do this is to create a Volunteer Team, then sign up your team for this project.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You are responsible for ensuring that everyone signed up through your team attends - only sign up team members who have confirmed their availability. Teams that repeatedly sign up, but do not show up or show up with fewer volunteers than they signed up, may be removed. To add or remove team members from a project, click on "My Account" and then "My Teams," above.

Click "Sign Up" below to reserve your spot! Need help signing up? Call 503-200-3355.
