Help Coordinate Disaster Preparedness Education in Local Schools - Virtual


Do you have a passion for supporting the education of youth in our community? Are you looking for an impact from volunteering that will continue on long after you serve? The Red Cross is seeking volunteers to support the growth of Disaster Preparedness Education in local schools.

The Red Cross is seeking a Youth Preparedness Coordinator to help build relationships with local educators, schedule presentations, and support outreach to trained Red Cross volunteers to fill appointments.  Coordinators will help inform educators and administrators of the various 40-60 minute trainings the Red Cross can offer to elemntary audiences from Kindergarden to 5th Grade.  

Work can be done remotely, but will require access to phone, computer, and internet.  Candidates should be comfortable using collaborative software, such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or WebEx.  

Requirements:

•Must be 18 years or older.
•Complete Red Cross application (Background check, agree to policies, etc.) •Need to be comfortable speaking to groups of children.
•Ability to complete training requirements and volunteer scheduling commitments.

Desired Qualifications:

• Ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
• Comfort making new connections and networking
• Experience or desire to work in an Educational setting.
• Interest in training facilitation.
• Passion in community outreach and volunteer engagement.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs: Excel, Powerpoint, Sharepoint, MS Teams
 

Time Commitment:

• Flexible Hours: Average 4 hrs per week

The Pillowcase Presenter will help educate our future leaders about building resiliency in the face of small and large scale disasters. Students will receive resources to bring home and start a discussion with their families to help them create plans and prepare for various disaster scenarios.
