Help with the Fort Vancouver Book Sale (age 12+) *MLK Weekend 2020*

Join us in honoring the legacy of Dr. King through meaningful service to our community: "Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve."
-- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

About Ft. Vancouver Regional Library:

With thirteen libraries, two express libraries and two bookmobiles, Fort Vancouver Regional Library District provides information resources and services, and community and cultural events for a population of more than 425,000 residents.  The service area is more than 4,200 square miles and includes farm, open range and national forest lands, communities along the Columbia River, small towns and expanding urban and industrial areas.
Our mission is to strengthen our communities through knowledge, experiences, and creativity.

Our vision is that everyone recognizes and values libraries as an essential element of a free society. Those values include:
- Community Success: We are an engaged and valued partner.
- District-wide Collaboration: We thrive when we all support our common goals.
- Exceptional Service: We deliver positive and successful experiences.
- Innovation: We believe in imagination and possibilities.
- Intellectual Freedom: We ensure confidential and open access to all points of view.

Volunteers will be sorting and re-stocking book sale items, and assisting customers in finding what they are searching for (by category - children's, YA, or adult books, etc...) and assisting in taking items to cars.

The proceeds from this book sale will go to support literacy with an emphasis on early childhood development. The proceeds help to support the Summer Reading Program all across SW WA (15 libraries) which impacts thousands of kids helping them to be school ready in the fall. Each volunteer's gift of time will have life long impact on many individuals. We appreciate their generous support and all volunteers will be invited to our Appreciation Receptions.
