Box Packer Extraordinaire and Food Box Distribution! (age 12+) Referral

SnowCap is a philanthropic organization, created to provide food, clothing, advocacy and other services to the poor in East Multnomah County.

With the COVID-19 threat, we are suspending our normal "shopping-style" pantry services, and transitioning to handing out pre-packed food boxes to our clients for the next few weeks. Many of SnowCap's regular volunteers are staying home, due to age or at-risk factors, so we are in need of additional healthy volunteers that can help pack food boxes, and distribute them to our clients.

We need healthy, vibrant volunteers to help fill in at SnowCap, while our at-risk volunteers stay at home. This volunteer job will have people standing on their feet, and volunteers must be able to safely lift 25-30 lb food boxes to distribute to our clients.

We are looking for help from approximately 2 volunteers each day, Monday through Friday, in our Warehouse and pantry. Plan to wear comfortable tennis shoes or boots. No open-toe shoes or sandals. We also recommend volunteers dress in layers, as our warehouse area can get a little chilly from time to time.

Volunteers will learn how families and individuals in East Multnomah County, struggle with food insecurity, and how an entire community is needed to address the struggles that our clients face on a daily basis.

Opportunity Requirements:
