Food Box Delivery Driver Volunteer (age 18+) Referral

Clackamas Service Center (CSC) is an inclusive "one-stop" community center for individuals and families seeking food relief and resources for improved health, dignity, and stability. This is a no/low contact volunteer position delivering groceries to the homes and apartments of people who have requested free food from our pantry.

Volunteers will learn about food insecurity in our community; work with community partners that support food distribution; and gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be the last link for families to receive free groceries.

This is a great employee engagement opportunity or a reliable group opportunity. Groups could reserve a time slot and have rotating individuals fill the reserve shifts each week! Please email Volunteer Coordinator Celess Roman Celessroman@cscoregon.org to learn more about group volunteering.

To take part in this opportunity, you must be able to commit to a minimum of 1 shift every other week or two months.

  • Must have a vehicle with storage space (think SUV size)

  • Be available Monday-Thursday for a pick-up shift between the hours of 11am-2:30pm, preferably on a regular basis, or Tuesday 3 pm -5:30pm

  • Have about 1.5-2 hours to volunteer

  • Delivery to single to multi-level homes

  • Be able to bend, lift, and carry 40+ lbs food boxes (from the ground)

  • Comfortable delivering to multi-level homes

  • No contact delivery

  • Wear a face mask while on-site at CSC and during the delivery route

  • Deliver to North Clackamas and SE Portland area

Volunteers are required to wear PPE while volunteering on-site and during deliveries.

At its heart, Clackamas Service Center is a community-centered non-profit. Through the support of caring individuals, service clubs, churches, businesses, government agencies, and other non-profits, we are able to provide food and other free resources to any community member who needs them. Every person or organization involved with Clackamas Service Center as a member, donor, partner, or volunteer is part of a great ecosystem, working together to make life better for everyone in our community. Our work relies on the support of over 500 donors, 300 volunteers, and dozens of partner agencies each year. We believe that any community member can make an impact here, whether through donating money, time, or resources, or by simply spreading the word about the work we do.

COVID-19 Information:

The novel coronavirus ("COVID-19") is a contagious and potentially life-threatening disease.  Reducing the spread of COVID-19 in our community is a shared responsibility. In an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 at Hands On volunteer activities, all volunteers are required to:

  • Follow all COVID safety-rules at their volunteer site or project

  • Wash their hands, at a minimum, before and after their volunteering

  • Maintain physical distancing while volunteering, to the extent practicable

  • Wear a cloth or disposable face covering at all times while volunteering.

Hands On appreciates your interest in volunteering to help our community in this time of extraordinary need. As part of some volunteer activities, you may risk exposure to COVID-19. If you or any member of your household is experiencing any symptom of COVID-19, or has exhibited any symptom in the past 14 days, please do not sign up for a volunteer activity at this time.
