About the Project

Become a Friend of Mt. Tabor Park as a Weed Warrior! Spend the morning outside at Mt. Tabor, a cinder cone volcano in SE Portland, and help restore the health of this unique park.

The Weed Warriors meet the last Saturday of each month (except December), and remove invasive plants including Himalayan blackberry and English ivy, plant native plants, and/or mulch new plantings.

Tools, gloves, and invasive plant removal hacks provided. Be sure to wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and long sleeves to protect yourself as you work alongside trees and bushes, including thorny blackberry. Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. A water bottle filling station is located by the restrooms near the Visitors Center.

Be prepared to have fun and feel good taking care of our Mt. Tabor Park. Volunteers can learn about ecology, environmental restoration, native plants, trees, birds, invertebrates-- and how all of these things work together.
