Community Impact Week 2022
Dates: 10/4/2022 - 10/8/2022
Community Impact Week will feature volunteer opportunities throughout Clark, Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties! This event will highlight our Community Impact work of United Way of the Columbia-Willamette, which includes volunteer opportunities supporting early education, disaster & crisis resiliency, stable housing, and racial justice initiatives, among many other ways you can support needs in our community. Join us on one day or many days! Revisit volunteer projects you missed or connect with something new! Community Impact Week is a great way to re-engage in volunteerism, support our community partners, and have a lot of fun along the way.

Brown Hope
Brown Hope is planting and nurturing seeds for racial justice and healing. We serve and mobilize communities in order to heal our collective soil from the poisons of our past and present, so our future roots can thrive. We provide access, services, and programming for Multnomah County residents.

Who benefits: All community members of Multnomah county that visit the Brown Hope Freestore to receive free supplies and resources.

Community Action
Since 1965, Community Action has fostered the vision of a thriving local community where all residents are empowered to live with dignity, security, and resilience. Leading with this vision, our programs invest directly into the community by connecting people to the opportunities and essential services they need to overcome conditions of poverty. We serve over 30,000 Washington County residents each year with programs that are focused in four core areas:- Emergency Assistance: helping struggling families pay their rent, avoid evictions, keep the lights and heat on, and prevent them from becoming homeless.
- Housing Stability: helping clients find and maintain stable housing with renter support strategies, providing emergency shelter, and preserving affordable housing stock through energy conservation improvements.
- Early Childhood Development: providing Head Start programs to ensure children (infant – 5 years) have safe, stable, nurturing environments that foster healthy development and prepare them for kindergarten and supporting the quality of community-based childcare.
- Family Development: helping families increase their assets and reach their goals through education, coaching, and advocacy.
Supply Drive Name: Bilingual Book Drive for Head Start
Supplies Needed:
Donate NEW books to kids living in poverty that Community Action and Head Start serves. We need new books for kids aged birth to five years that meet the guidelines below, and given the diversity of our students, we are seeking bilingual books and books in Spanish as well as books in Arabic, and Somali, Kurdish, Pashto, and Farsi.

Who benefits: Children living in poverty often enter kindergarten lacking the foundational skills needed for learning to read. Early reading experiences in the home are essential to developing these important skills.

NAMI Clackamas
NAMI CLACKAMAS is a grassroots organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for everyone impacted by mental health issues through support, education, and advocacy. Our vision is one of hope, health, acceptance, and community for everyone impacted by mental illness.Supply Drive Name: Keep Art Alive

Who benefits: NAMI Clackamas’ Open Minds Art Studio and Creative Connections are weekly art groups for adults affected by mental health issues. The groups are open to anyone 18 and older that suffers from mental health conditions, or has family members or loved ones that suffer from mental health conditions, and provides them an opportunity to socialize and create art together in a casual, relaxed environment.

Blanchet House
The misson of Blanchet House is to offer food, shelter, and aid to all those in need of a safe place to be nourished and restored. Assist the transformation of each life we touch with compassion and dignity.
Supply Drive Name: Make Care Kits for Blanchet House
Supplies Needed: Care kits include basic items that many Blanchet House guests need everyday. When you give care kits, you are showing kindness and compassion for a fellow human being going through difficult times and enduring cruel living conditions. Commonly, they include a small article of clothing, some hygiene supplies, and a snack, packed in a sealed bag. For ideas and directions on how to make a care kit, please see our website: https://blanchethouse.org/care-kits/
We ask that you avoid adding these items to your care kits: medication, pills, liquid hand sanitizer, or mouth wash. Do not pack care kits in paper bags. We ask that you only include new items in care kits.
Who benefits: Blanchet House distributes care kits to guests that join us for our meal services. Blanchet House serves 1800 meals per week and can hand out over 200 care kits during a meal service.
