Volunteer Opportunity
Help build the health and resilience of the urban forest at Tryon Creek.
About the Program
Our mission, in partnership with Oregon State Parks, is to inspire every community to identify, cultivate or reclaim their relationship with nature in this cherished urban forest.
About the Project
Join Oregon State Park Rangers to improve forest health by managing noxious weeds and maintaining trails. Volunteer activities include hiking and the use of hand tools.
Instructions, gloves, and tools are provided (feel free to bring your own gloves if preferred). This event is best suited for adults and youth ages 14 and older. All youth need to be accompanied by an adult.
Usually Thursdays focus on tree ivy and Fridays focus on trails. All tools and gloves will be provided. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes, long pants, and long sleeves. Dress for the weather and bring rain gear if conditions call for it.
Volunteer along Park Rangers to learn the techniques and tools it takes to maintain a safe park trail system and healthy forest.

Project Requirements
- Age: Volunteers must be 14+; under 18 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.
- Accessibility: Activities include hiking 1-2 miles and access to unpaved surfaces.
- Dress code: Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes, long pants, and long sleeves. Dress for the weather and bring rain gear if conditions call for it.
