As a tree planting volunteer you will be guided on how to plant trees and make a difference in a few short hours!
About the Program
Friends of Trees inspires people to improve the world around them through a simple solution: planting trees, together. Since 1989, Friends of Trees has planted 1 Million trees and native shrubs in neighborhoods and natural areas in six counties across two states. We’ve done this by bringing together over 75,000 community members, and while implementing and growing programming that aims to do this work inclusively and equitably.
About the Project
Let's plant trees in neighborhoods all around Portland! Dozens of large (6-10' tall) trees will be ready for planting in their new homes, and your help is what makes this community planting possible!
Please arrive by 8:45am to sign-in and be assigned a planting crew. The planting starts at 9:00am. We provide gloves, tools, and guidance, as well as light breakfast snacks and coffee/tea/hot chocolate. We ask that all volunteers dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes/boots you don't mind getting dirty, and be ready to have fun!
Upcoming neighborhood planting days are:
- Gresham neighborhoods, Saturday November 21, 8:45am-1pm
- North Portland neighborhoods, Saturday December 5, 8:45am-1pm

Project Requirements
- Age: Volunteers must be 16+; under 18 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.
