Multnomah Village Greenspace Restoration Event (age 8+) *Hands On*
Connect with nature and make a difference by improving habitat at this important community greenspace.
About the Program
The Westside Watershed Resource Center inspires action and awareness on behalf of watershed health. By participating in this restoration event, volunteers will directly support this mission through hands-on service that improves the health of the Fanno Creek watershed.
About the Project
Join us as we collaborate with neighborhood resident Julia Hernandez, who has been stewarding the greenspace for about five years, to improve this community greenspace in Multnomah Village. We will plant native plants, spread wood chips, and take part in general cleanup. Your time and effort will directly improve this greenspace for the community to enjoy.
Volunteers will learn basic native plant restoration skills, including planting techniques and site care, while gaining hands-on experience in how community greenspaces are maintained and restored. *The plants for this project have been made possible by a grant from the City Portland, Office of Community and Civic Life and the District Four Coalition. Urban Arts PDX is also a sponsor of this restoration event.
Children 8+ are welcome, if accompanied by an attentive adult. Youth 16+ may attend independently with parent permission.
Accessibility: This event will require bending over and walking on uneven surfaces. Please wear appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes. Tools, gloves, instruction, and refreshments will be provided! All experience levels are welcome!
Questions? For more information, please contact Julia Hernandez at eqfoundations@icloud.com or Seth Healy at manager@westsidewatersheds.org.
