Sort, Prep, Shelve, & Pack Media (age 12+) Referral

The Media Foundation is a nonprofit that helps small nonprofits generate funds so that they can reach their visions without spending all their time fundraising. Volunteers are the key to making this work!

How we do the fundraising is through turning old media (books, DVDs, CDs, records and video games) and turn it into new media and sell it online. The volunteers work on general worth of media, categorizing, cataloging, taking scratches out of DVDs and CDs, etc.

The Media Foundation is an Oregon 501(c)3 organization that provides funding to the local non-profit community by allowing qualifying non-profits to simply and easily convert in-kind media donations (CDs, DVDs, books, console games, etc.) into operating capital through the use of a free mobile app (works on iPhone, Android). These donations are then processed by volunteers and staff, then sold online through websites such as Amazon, eBay, Alibris, Half.com, and others.

Volunteers are a major part of what we are about, as we encourage people to take part in supporting other groups up to good work. When volunteers show up they are given simple instructions of processing the donated media, so they may be sold on line. This includes: the reconditioning of cds, categorizing and sorting the media, as well as data entry into lists.

We have work for people of all abilities. Our environment is comfortable and we take efforts to make sure people feel welcome. Wear comfortable clothing. Shoes are taken off inside the building. Volunteers can learn about our community partners, and how the few hours they share is benefiting 8 non profits at one time.

The Media Foundation's mission is to reduce the dependency that smaller non profits have on cash contributions to achieve their vision, while magnifying the impact they have on our community. We currently have 8 community partners: Love Inc., Kindred Partners, Transitional Youth, Serving our Neighbors, A Social Ignition, Perioikos, Oregon Adventures, and Omega Espresso Bar.
