Take Care of Toddlers (age 18+) Referral

Love kids? Have a passion for supporting young parents who are learning how to be the best parents they can be? Then be a childcare volunteer for Boys & Girls Aid's Transitional Living Program (TLP)!

The TLP supports youth ages 16-23 who are transitioning out of homelessness by providing housing, independent living support, and life skill building. Many of the young women in the program are parenting young children. The TLP program needs volunteers who can take care of up to four toddlers while their mothers participate in skill building groups in the adjoining room.

Tasks include playing with toys and games with the children, providing snacks, and reading stories. Groups take place on the first and third Wednesday of every month, from 4:45pm to 6:15pm, in Beaverton.

This is an exciting program with a positive, supportive culture. The childcare volunteer opportunity is perfect for anyone who wants to spend a few hours a month taking care of toddlers in a low-pressure environment. Volunteers have the opportunity to learn about toddler childcare, and more about the teen parent education system. Volunteers will directly support teen parents as they find stability and independence, while also contributing to the success of the vulnerable young adults in our community who are focused on improving their lives.

Our Mission:

Boys & Girls Aid works to secure lifelong connections for every child in Oregon. Regardless of age or background, we believe children belong in families that are permanent and stable. Between the ages of 0 to 23, we have a focus on making sure every child has a lifelong adult connected to their future.
