Supa Fresh Plant Party! (age 4+) *STW 2017*

Join in on the fun at Supa Fresh during Stand Together Week by participating in a plant party!

During this project volunteers will help with the Metzger Community Park project, and by installing additional planting areas as well as planting vegetables and beautifying the landscape. Tasks will include: Creating a large bed and planting it with herbs and flowers, planting raised beds with vegetables, creating paths and helping Supa Fresh get ready for the busy summer season.

Special Instructions:
Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing that can get dirty and be worn during outdoor work in a variety of weather. Bring a raincoat, water bottle, close toed shoes, long pants, sunscreen, and hat or sunglasses.

Parking Information:
Metzger Community Park is under construction and is located at Metzger Elementary School, in Tigard. Parking is available at the school, as well as side streets. Overflow parking can go to the Bethlehem House of Bread, located across the street from the project location. The park/school are located just east of the Washington Square Mall. You can take SW Hall or SW Greenburg Road to reach SW Locust Street. From Locust Street turn south onto SW Lincoln Street and the location will be on your left as soon as you turn.

Stand Together Week is the Portland Timbers, Thorns FC, and T2 citywide volunteer initiative that brings the community together to support local nonprofit organizations. The week engages hundreds of supporters, including Timbers, Thorns FC, & T2 players, coaches, ambassadors and front office staff who work with various non-profits in the community. Since 2012, Stand Together Week participants have donated 12,631 hours of service at over 163 projects focused on benefiting youth and the environment. 

About Supa Fresh Youth Farm:
The Supa Fresh mission: To cultivate Self-Sufficient, Confident and Joyful youth who Enthusiastically pursue their career and life goals through internships, training and entrepreneurship.
The Supa Fresh Youth Farm is an established Social Purpose Enterprise that has employed and trained at-risk youth, ages 16-24, in Southeast Washington County since 2009, and serves as a learning space that provides rich experiential vocational opportunities for youth. The farm is open Tuesday through Friday and the schedule changes seasonally. To find out more check out the Supa Fresh website: www.supafreshyouthfarm.org


Project Requirements:

  • Volunteers under age 14 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone. The minimum age to volunteer with an adult chaperone is age 4.

    All volunteers under 18 are required to bring a Youth Volunteer Release Form signed by their parent or legal guardian. Please download, complete, and bring this waiver with you on the day of the project.

  • If you plan to bring children/additional volunteers you MUST reserve slots for them. The best way to do this is to create a Volunteer Team, then sign up your team for this project. Questions? Email teams@handsonportland.org
